Umpire Development Programme
PHC Chiswick has started our first ever Umpire Development Programme. Head down to the pitch at 7:15pm on the night of your own training, and find the group in either:
Each team should send at least two representatives, but more are welcome. Umpiring experience is absolutely not necessary and there is no commitment to umpire games attached to coming to the course. It's a great way to brush up on your rules, get a feel for the role of the umpire and see if you like the job.

Week 1 – Introduction to Umpiring: Umpiring at PHC Chiswick and with England Hockey; Umpire kit essentials; Starting the game; Introduction to positioning; working with your other umpire
Week 2 – Controlling the game and Making Decisions: Signals, Whistles, Cards and Confidence – How and when to use them; A close-up look at common fouls and respecting your inner “cringe-factor”
Week 3 - Making Decisions 2: Keeping the game moving using advantage and maintaining the flow of the game plus a rules Q & A
** Level 1 England Hockey Umpire Course – November 8th at Acton
Week 4 – Penalty Corners, Flicks, Overtime and more: When hockey gets exciting.
Week 5 - Finishing the game and preparing for assessment plus final Q&A
