No game is possible without Umpires.
At PHC Chiswick we are always looking to develop umpires at all levels. Umpiring is a great way to get involved with the club, and to enhance your understanding of the game as a player!
Whether you are a junior looking to expand your knowledge of adult hockey, a parent who wants to find a way to keep warm on the side line, a player who wants to give back to your club or a hockey lover who wants to make umpiring a career (yes you can do that!) you are in the right place.
UMPIRE DEVELOPMENT

Steps to becoming an Umpire
To start is easy, you can umpire a junior or lower level adult hockey game with simply a good knowledge of the hockey rules and a bit of confidence! Speak to your captain or coach and they can start with some training games, before you move on to friendlies or even a league game.
RULES
For a refresh of the rules see the England Hockey's Online Training Hub.
UMPIRING COURSES | ENGLAND HOCKEY
The next step is to become a level one unassessed umpire! England Hockey now offer free level 1 umpiring courses, but spaces are limited so follow link to book yours now Umpiring Courses | England Hockey, so follow this link.
PRACTICE
You can then practice with some higher level games, and then get assessed to become a fully qualified level 1 umpire. From there, you can umpire more games across higher level, and maybe push on to do the higher levels of qualification!
The club is always keen to support umpires at any level and happy to answer any questions you may have. If you have any questions on umpiring or wish to enquire about any training courses then please contact umpires@phcchiswick.com
