Match Report by Pip Turner
We began with a great first half. We threatened the opposition’s goal right from the start with some great midfield play by Mike Elmer and the two new players on the team Harry and Tom. We had a few chances in the D at the beginning but Richmond’s defenders were up to the challenge. Eventually however with the continual threat from our midfields and forwards we won ourselves a short corner. A superb injection from Aaron and a great stop meant that Mike could slam it into the bottom left corner, our first goal. Our second goal followed soon after. Mike managed to get the ball in the D and dribble around a couple of Richmond players to slot it past the keeper. Mike then managed to score his hatrick in the first half when Richmond gave away another short corner as one of our forwards placed onto their foot. Again a superb injection and stop meant that Mike could strike it past the Richmond Keeper. The score at the end of the first half was 3 – 0 to Chiswick 5’s. The second half began with the momentum slightly in Richmond’s favour. They began to move the ball more effectively and threaten our D more regularly but our defense managed to hold. Eventually the momentum shifted and some good passing by our back line, Nick Woon and Inesh Patel meant that we were threatening the oppo’s half once more. The ball managed to get to Aaron who attempted a fairly successful reverse stick tomahawk. The keeper had to block and the ball ricocheted to Harry who slotted it into the goal while the keeper was out of position. Our next goal was scored by Aaron. After Harry had dribbled down the left hand side the keeper was out of position and Harry passed to Aaron a yard out and he slammed the ball in. This somehow won him a vote for the dick of the day along with a vote for wearing the wrong shorts that meant he was awarded the title in the clubhouse later on. Our final goal came from Mike Elmer after much movement of the ball Mike found himself fairly free at the top of the D and smashed it passed the keeper making it his fourth goal of the game. Richmond became more threatening towards the end of the game largely due to the fact that we decided to sub some of our defenders off and give them a chance up front. Due to this Richmond managed to sneak one in at the end of the game making it 6 to Chiswick and 1 to Richmond. A superb game for Chiswick overall. MoM – Mike Elmer "For simply scoring too many goals." DoD – Aaron McInnes “For scoring from a yard out and wearing the wrong shorts”
