A high scoring match rounded off PHC Chiswick Ladies 1's first half of the season with a 6-2 win over Milton Keynes.
A partially frozen pitch and no team shirts meant a shaky start to the match and it was only after the shirts arrived (courtesy of a courier straight from West London!) did Chiswick gain control of the match. Scoring kicked off in open play with Rhianna Buchanan coming out of a melee at the top of the circle to shoot for the far corner to beat the keeper. Chiswick had long periods of possession and territory and a hard ball in from Rebecca Smith was superbly swept in by Harriet Stevenson for a goal. Stevenson quickly followed up this beating the opposition goalkeeper to a Rhianna Buchanan cross-goal pass for her second goal. Chiswick go into the second half leading 3-0 and Harriet Stevenson was quick to gain her hat trick following on from a strong drive from Alex Earnshaw who found Ceilidh Walker free in the circle, a scramble ensued and Stevenson was quick on the rebound. Milton Keynes not to be left out of the scoring capitalised after a scramble in the circle and even the diving Chiswick defence couldn’t save the first Milton Keynes goal. Chiswick were quick to react and came back with a cracking shot from Rebecca Smith when she found herself unchallenged at the right of the circle at a penalty corner followed by another diving goal 2 minutes later from Harriet Stevenson to round off her 4 goal coup. Milton Keynes took advantage of a lack of concentration sending a pass wide to an unmarked player, now with 2 goals on the scoreboard. A strong show from Chiswick going into the Christmas break. MOM: Harriet Stevenson – 4 goals! DOD: Rebecca Smith – forgetting team shirts!
