On one of the sunniest and warmest Saturdays of the year so far, the ladies gathered at a pitch not yet know to the Chiswick ladies (Brunell University). The modern, clean pavillion allowed us to get changed and enjoy some sunshine before the game. During the warm up the team worked hard and topped up their water bottles, preparing themselves as last time we met Southgate 3s we won 5-2! The game started with the sun beating down on us. Chiswick were strong and passing the ball beautifully around the team. Many times, Southgate were unsure what to do! The pitch surface was quite challenging as it often felt like we were playing on a trampoline. However, that didn't stop our attack, and our co-captain Zoe Jupp sealed our first goal within the first half. During the half time discussion, many of the team had to apply sun cream (!) but the team were praised for their hard work so far, we needed to continue at that pace. Unfortunately we looked like we had run out of steam during the 2nd half. Southgate upped their game and this time were passing the ball around us. Sadly, they scored from a solid strike from one of their attackers making the score 1-1. Both teams continued to play hard in the midday sun, however by the end of the match the score remained unchanged. Chiswick were disappointed but glad to receive at least 1 point. The team enjoyed Matilda Lang's finest bakery goods after the game and most of the team made the journey back to Southgate's clubhouse for teas. MOM joint winners. Danni Petticrew and Tara Feeney.
